Online booking: what to look for before you pick a system

17 February 2026 · LMJ Web Design

For a therapist, a class, a clinic or a venue, online booking is the feature that pays for the website. Choosing badly means double bookings, awkward payments and a system your customers give up on.

Seven questions

  1. Can a customer book in under a minute on a phone, without creating an account?
  2. Does it take payment or a deposit at the time of booking?
  3. Does it send reminders, and can customers reschedule themselves?
  4. Does it sync with the calendar you already use?
  5. What happens with cancellations, refunds and no-shows?
  6. Who owns the customer data, and can you export it?
  7. What does it cost per booking once you are busy?

Build or buy

Often an off-the-shelf tool is the right answer and we will say so. When the business has its own rules, such as memberships, multi-practitioner rotas or non-standard pricing, we build it. We run a booking platform of our own, so we know where the edges are. Talk to us about yours.
