SPF, DKIM, DMARC: why your emails land in spam

If quotes and invoices from your business address keep landing in customers' junk folders, the cause is usually not the content. It is three DNS records that tell the world your mail is genuine.
The three records
- SPF lists which servers are allowed to send mail for your domain.
- DKIM signs each message so the receiver can check it was not altered.
- DMARC tells receivers what to do if a message fails the other two, and sends you reports.
Without them, anyone can send email pretending to be you, and receiving servers know it, so they treat all your mail with suspicion.
How to tell
Send an email to a Gmail address you control and open "Show original". It shows SPF, DKIM and DMARC as pass or fail. Any fail is worth fixing today.
What we do
Email DNS set-up is part of the managed plan, whichever mailbox provider you use. All three records are configured at go-live and checked as part of monitoring, because a website whose enquiries never arrive is not much use.
